Southern Africa has not only a vast array of wildlife and birds but some very interesting landscapes. These photos are a small sample of those sights.
Pictures were taken with a Cannon Rebel xti using a Cannon 100-400mm zoom l type lens or a Cannon EFS 17-85 mm lens.

Lester Reed > Dawn comes quickly with a brilliant lighting of the sky as the sun creeps over a range of hills. Dark quickly vanishes and the land reveals its many splendors. Our morning game drives start prior to dawn hoping catch the nocturnal animals heading home.
Lester Reed > The morning light reveals a herd of elephants in the distance.
Lester Reed > Trees often present special subjects.
Lester Reed > At times I tried to compose a special feeling from the brown subject that often predominated. My degree of success is in the eye of the beholder
Lester Reed > The baobab tree is a special subject. It is often referred to as the “upside down tree” with the allusion of its roots out of the ground. They are long lived. This giant is said to be 1,000 years old.
Lester Reed > Two baobab trees with reflected sunlight.
Lester Reed > These sun palm dots the landscape.
Lester Reed > Deep grass and wooded thickets make great cover for the animals.
Lester Reed > A troop of baboons sit on a barren patch of ground. These areas are former native village sites that had been occupied for over 500 years. In the 1950s the government moved the entire native population from this region to fight an epidemic to sleeping sickness caused by the tsetse fly.
